4 days of diving into working with clay on the potter’s wheel.

We work daily between 9:30-14:30 with a lunchbreak at 12:00

Location: KAOLIN studio, Koningin Wilhelminalaan 6-8, Utrecht

Day one: We start with discussing your plans for the week. Then we dive into wheel throwing.

Day two: You start trimming your pots from yesterday, and we discuss decoration techniques. If there is time, you start the wheelthrowing process again

Day three: You repeat the previous process.

Day four: You finalize your vessels. We discuss local clay slips and further decoration. Time left? We have porcelain moulds to do some slipcasting.

After the course, your work will be fired at bisc temperature to be picked up afterwards. Bisc firing is included in the course fee. Wish to come for a glaze session? No problem: in September you can join a glazing lesson on a date to be discussed.

Masterclass: Wheelthrowing Porcelain

NEW DATES ANNOUNCED! 14 & 15 APRIL 2025

Two evenings of learning how to work on the wheel with this lovely delicate material. All materials and bisc firing included. Learn how to wheel throw porcelain from a professional ceramicist working with porcelain. Main focus: How to center porcelain, how to turn them so thin the vessels are translucent after glaze firing.

Please note: Glazing not included! You book a separate glazing lesson or you bring home your bisc fired pieces to glaze them at another studio.

Weekly courses

In these lessons you’ll learn everything there is to know about wheel throwing. Lessons are very suitable for advanced students, but beginners willing to commit to a longer course are welcome too.

There are three course periods during the year: Sept-Dec, Jan-Apr, May-July.
