Since November, some of my most trusted glazes have been misfiring. Dull surfaces. Uneven texture. Spots, unmixed colours. Glazes I’ve made reliably for years, suddenly behaving like strangers.

A growing collection of vessels made during the weekly courses at KAOLIN. All made by students of different levels of experience, and all with characters and styles of their own. I must say its a privilege to be surrounded by so many clay enthusiasts

New favourite: stony feel, almost bisc colour, seen here on porcelain (slight crazing) and stoneware test and textures cup. Thinking of naming it sandstone.
